Day 1: Depart USA for Ireland DAY 2: Arrive in Dublin and we do a city tour of Dublin. Included is a visit to Georgian Dublin, Phoenix Park, pass the G.P.O. and visit Kilmainham Jail. Afternoon free to browse around. Dinner and overnight. Day 3: We
depart Dublin for Belfast. We pass through the towns of Drogheda, Dundalk,
Newry and Belfast . We catch a ferry to Scotland which takes approx. 90
minutes. Arrival in Scotland on to Edinburgh for late afternoon. Dinner
and overnight
Day 5: We
depart Edinburgh for Inverness via Perth which, many centuries ago, was
the Capital of Scotland . Pass through the village of Pitlochry, Carrbridge
and Dunkeld and onto Inverness for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: We depart Inverness for Loch Lomond via Fort William. We drive along Loch Ness to Loch Oich, Loch Lochy to Fort William which is on the mouth of Lough Linnhe. We pass through Glencoe (literally the "Valley of the Weeping") where the famous battle of Glencoe took place in 1692. We arrive in Loch Lomond in the late afternoon where there will be some time to browse around. Dinner and overnight. DAY 8: We
depart Scotland to catch our Ferry to Ireland. We drive through Preswick
and Ayr to Stranraer. We catch the Ferry across the Irish sea, arriving
late afternoon in Carnlough, Co. Antrim.
DAY 10: Today we take a tour around the Atlantic Drive. We pass through the towns of Letterkenney, renowned for having the longest street in Ireland. We pass through Rathmullen, visit Glenbeigh National Park, and visit a pub or two for a bit of Irish music. Return to our Hotel for dinner and overnight DAY 11: We depart Donegal and head for Ballina via Killybegs. We cross over the mountains into Ardara, the Glenties beautiful villages set in lush valleys. We visit Killybegs , which is home to the largest fishing fleet in Ireland, where we will sample Fish and chips fresh from the Sea. We carry on towards Sligo, on to Ballina where our accommodation for tonight is Beleek Castle (16th Century) . B/D DAY 12: Today we visit the Ceide Fields which dates back 5000 years, illustrating the similarities between farming in Ireland today and farming 5000 years ago. We will also visit Killala bay where the French landed in 1789, in one of the many rebellions against the British. We will pass through Belmullet across the mountains and return to Ballina where we will have some time to browse around. Dinner and Overnight DAY 13: Depart
Ballina for Galway via Westport. We will visit Kylemore Abbey, founded
by Benedictine Nuns, and is today a boarding school for girls. We pass
through the town of Clifden where Alcock & Brown crash landed in their
attempt to cross the Atlantic. Arrive Galway in the late afternoon.
DAY 15: Depart Galway and head for Limerick, via the Cliffs of Moher, 700 ft above the Atlantic Ocean. We pass through the town of Ennis, 850 years old, where we will have time to browse around the narrow streets. Arrive in Limerick. Dinner tonight will be in the form of a medieval banquet at a real Irish Castle. D DAY 16: Depart hotel for Shannon airport for flight home.
